What stays on your device
Everything you enter into Courtside AI — your roster, opponents, playbook, and every tracked game — is stored locally on your device using the operating system's standard on-device storage. It is not uploaded to us, and we never see it. You do not create an account, and we do not ask for your name, email, or any identifier to use the app.
Because rosters often contain the names of minors, this is a deliberate design choice: player names never leave your device unless you personally choose to export or sync them.
The opt-in exceptions
A few features send data off your device, and each one is off by default and only happens when you choose it:
- Cloud backup & Live View (optional). If you turn on cloud sync, your app data is stored under a private, unguessable team code in Google Firebase (Firestore) so you can back it up and mirror it to a second device. Sign-in is anonymous — no email or account. Only a device that knows your team code can read that data. If you never enable it, nothing is uploaded.
- Waitlist / product-update email (optional). If you choose to enter your email during setup or on our website, it is submitted to a private Google Form we use to send occasional product updates. This is entirely optional and skippable; the app works fully without it.
- Data export (you control it). You can export your data as a JSON file at any time. Where that file goes is entirely up to you.
Subscriptions & payments
Courtside AI Pro is an auto-renewing subscription sold through the Apple App Store. Payments are handled entirely by Apple — we never see or store your payment information. Subscription status is managed on your behalf by RevenueCat, which receives an anonymous, randomly generated identifier (not your name or email) solely to tell the app whether your subscription is active. Apple's own privacy policy governs the payment itself.
What we do not do
- No advertising, and no ad networks or trackers of any kind.
- No analytics or usage tracking inside the app.
- No selling, renting, or sharing of your data with anyone.
- No user accounts, passwords, or personal profiles.
Children
Courtside AI is a tool for coaches, not a service directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone. Player names a coach enters are stored only on that coach's device as described above.
Third-party services
The only third parties involved, and only when you opt into the features that use them, are: Apple (subscriptions), RevenueCat (subscription status, anonymous identifier only), Google Firebase (optional cloud backup), and Google Forms (optional email waitlist). Each operates under its own privacy policy.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after a change means you accept the updated policy.
